Episode 36: Steps to Restore Gut Health

Gut health is critical to our overall health. In episode 35, we talk about the conditions, diseases and symptoms you an experience when your gut health is off. And speaking from experience with some of them, it is not pleasant by any means, But how to do attain gut health?

It’s not as hard it may seem. In this episode, Desiree Nielsen, RD goes into detail on many aspects of how we can get a healthy digestive track.

Step 1 – Move your body every day! Even a 15 min slow walk is acceptable.

Step 2 – Get outside more often – getting fresh air and being in nature has many benefits to our healths

Step 3 – Limit your screen time. Every time you connect, your body instantly stresses. Have designated times each day where you go online but limit it to 30 mins in the morning and 30 mins in the evening.

Step 4 – Have a wined down routine at night. At about 8 or 9pm put your phone and screens away. Try relaxing your body to prepare it for a good night sleep but taking a relaxing bath, reading a book, having a calming cup of tea.

Step 5 – Get enough sleep. Sleep is when your body heals so you will want to ensure you get a minimum of 6 hours of sleep, but try to get as much as possible.

Step 6 – Clean up your diet. Your diet should consist of mostly whole plant foods. Eliminate boxed or canned food as much as possible, or even entirely.

Step 7 – Take a good quality probiotic that is appropriate for your needs by going to http://www.probioticchart.ca which will help you determine which is the right one for you.
