Episode 29: The Importance of Family Stability

How important is stability in the family household? What impact does stability have on your children, your relationship with your spouse, and yourself?

Sarah Therese, highly successful vlogger, is my guest today and shares what she has learned along her journey of becoming a mother and wife.

I was amazed at the calm and organized environment Sarah Therese had when I met her for the interview at her home. Her 3 very young children were playing and entertaining themselves, and she was prepping dinner quietly in the kitchen.

Within moments, I had one child attached to my leg, the youngest in my arms and the oldest walking me around the entire house showing me everything. Honestly, the most adorable kids ever, but that is quite a bit going on! I would never get anything done.

So HOW does she do it. How does she spend the time needed with her kids, get her work done, stay on top of the household chores, cook meals, breathe, and then once her husband gets home – nurture her relationship with her husband?

She’s learned what works best for her family unit and that is creating stability. She is highly organized and maintains a very detailed planner that notes every activity and task that needs to be done daily.

She learned that her children thrive when they feel secure and that security is rooted in the relationship she and her husband have.

“Couch time” was created because of this and is where she and her husband sit on the couch for a minimum of 15 mins in front of the kids but kindly explain to them that mom and dad are having uninterrupted quality time.

I just love this idea, because the children are able to see their parents nurture their relationship firsthand and they get security from that.

She only works when the kids are not around, which is basically when they are asleep. Her oldest only realized as of late what Sarah Therese does for work when she showed her a video she had created that included her.

She swears by having a healthy disconnect from her kids for short periods of time during the day so that she is giving them the space and tools they need to be independent and responsible while giving her the time she needs to prep dinner and do chores around the house.

She keeps a minimalistic house which limits the amount time spend on maintaining the household but also it makes it easier for her children to help around the house as there isn’t an abundance of “things” laying around. They are able to help clean up their toys and so on.

These are just a few of the tips and advice she shares. We get into so much more; letting go of expectations in marriage and parenting. How she nurtures her relationship, what her self-love routine looks like and how everything we have chatted about creates a stable environment that benefits the entire household.

I definitely learned some key things from this chat and hope you do also! So get comfy, grab a cup of organic tea and tune in to hear more of Sarah Therese’s story.
