Episode 175: Tackling Bloat and Candida

In this episode of the LOVE Unplugged podcast, we dive into the world of holistic nutrition, gut health and candida with the knowledgeable Jass Stupak, Founder of Nourish with Jass. As a certified holistic nutritionist and herbalist, Jass shares how diet profoundly affects our digestive systems, and the essential steps to take when considering dietary changes, particularly when adopting a diet like carnivore that may require a period of adjustment.

The conversation pivots towards the importance of recognizing and avoiding personal food intolerances. Jass advises on the merits of eliminating potential irritants such as dairy and gluten for better digestion and cautions against excessive sugar consumption, suggesting natural alternatives like stevia and monk fruit. We candidly discuss the negative digestive impacts and the role of alcohol and yeast in candida overgrowth, sharing personal anecdotes about the body’s signals when it’s time to cut out certain foods.

Jass underscores the critical nature of overall dietary habits in relation to health issues. She recommends a candida diet for symptoms like yeast infections, bloating, and brain fog, highlighting the necessity of removing inflammatory foods. For those experiencing such symptoms, Jass offers an introduction to a paleo-like diet rich in proteins, fats, and vegetables, and shares resources for an antifungal food guide to assist listeners on their health journey.

The episode takes a turn towards supplements, where Jass stresses the importance of effective absorption and the benefits of getting nutrients from foods directly, especially with normal stomach acid levels. Magnesium, Vitamin D3, probiotics, and zinc are touted as supplements beneficial for the average person, though Jass points out the superiority of food-based sources.

The focus shifts to Jass Stupak’s entrepreneurial endeavor, her herbal tea company “Leaves,” which crafts organic teas for bloat, skin, digestion, and detox, all inspired by her personal health experiences. Jass’s commitment to wellness is palpable as she narrates her transition from studying linguistics to founding her business, overcoming migraines, and skin issues through dietary shifts.

Jass explains that wellness doesn’t require hefty investments but can be achieved through simple, manageable lifestyle adjustments. She discusses the pitfalls of seeking quick fixes for complex health problems, emphasizing the significance of stress management and gut health. In sharing her journey, Jass acknowledges the support of her European immigrant parents as she navigated her path from potential speech pathologist to a respected nutrition entrepreneur.

Join us to discover Jass Stupak’s invaluable insights on embracing holistic nutrition, prioritizing gut health, and driving forward a wellness-focused entrepreneurial spirit.
