Episode 33: Recovering from Burnout with Meditation

Burnout is something many of us know all too well. We often push ourselves to the max expecting our bodies to keep up. Often that is not the case. When we are in this place, meditation is probably the last thing that we think we need or that can help, but that is not the case.

LOVE Unplugged with Salt & Spirit Wellness

Roberta found herself in this situation. Working extremely long hours at a large law firm in New York, pushing her body beyond it’s limits trying to maintain her ideal physique, neglecting to nourish and care for her body the way she should. This landed her in the hospital forcing her to stop, rest and reflect on how she was living her life.

In this dark moment, she turned to meditation and found her calling and new passion. She made the decision to leave her current path in life and start a new journey – which I find her to have been extremely brave and courageous. It is not easy to leave behind a career that you have studied for and had achieved such success in. I asked her how she felt leaving it behind, and was surprised by her response. It was easy and she had no regrets. It was the right time and she was ready for the change.

So how do you recover from burnout? Roberta shares her three steps:

Nourish your body properly – eat according to your constitution.

Choose organic whole foods with lots of vegetables and fruits. Limit or simply avoid all processed foods, sugar, and anything that does not sit well with your gut.

Make time to do something you love.

I couldn’t agree with this more. Following my burnout, I needed to do something for me – something I loved. Having this in my life raised my vibration. It gave me something to look forward to, something that encouraged me. It was the light in a dark tunnel that I needed to help me find my way out of the darkness I had been in for so long.

Roberta started meditation and found her passion. Her love for it turned into a new career where she is able to help others going through similar experiences that she had, but also provide support many need in this stress-filled life.

Start a mediation practice.

Have you wondered what mediation truly is? How best to start a practice meditation? Perhaps mediation makes you uneasy because you don’t understand it’s origins or what mantras are, etc.

Well, you are in for a treat. In today’s episode, Roberta shares exactly what meditation is, the origins of mediation, Yoga, and Pilates, what mantras are and their origins. We talk about the differences between Yoga and Pilates and which is best for what. But we also get into what Kundalini is, a practice that Salt and Spirit Wellness offers.

Get comfy loves, grab yourself a cup of organic tea and let’s dive into how we can start a practice of meditation that will help us live happier, healthier lives.
