5 Dreamy Honeymoon Spots

With all this grey damp weather, it’s all I can do to stop myself from daydreaming of flying out to warmer weather. So I thought why not put all my “googling” of beautiful vacation spots to good use and compile a list of my top 5 dream honeymoon vacations for all of you needing a little help with deciding where to go on your honeymoon!

Every couple is different and finds different types of travelling appealing. Some like lounging beach or poolside and enjoying tranquility and complete relaxation. Some enjoy immersing themselves in new cultures and others like an adventure. There are so many beautiful destinations to choose from, but here are my top picks and hotels I found that have great reviews.

Pick #1 Bora Bora, French Polynesia

I’ve wanted to go Bora Bora in the French Polynesia ever since I saw Couple’s Retreat. I know it’s silly, but how could you not want to go there are seeing those overwater bungalows?! It’s such a beautiful location completely away from the busy city life. It really forces you to slow down, enjoy the peacefulness and natural beauty of the islands.

For this location, I choose the Four Seasons. I’ve always had exceptional service from every Four Seasons I’ve stayed at, so this was a no brainer.

Pick #2 Paris, France

Being French Canadian, Paris has always been on my bucket list and I’ve am determined to eventually go. The stunning architecture – which has such a lavish feel. The Louvre, all the history, the gourmet food, the wine, the list goes on. It truly is the most romantic city in the world and how perfect is that for your honeymoon.

The hotel I would suggest is the Shangri-La. I follow Jillian Harris on Instagram and after seeing and reading about her experience at this Hotel, I am adding it to my own list to visit. Who doesn’t want to stay at a Hotel that goes above and beyond for it’s guests and makes them feel so at home?

Pick #3 Santorini, Greece

I love architecture, site-seeing and especially history. Pair that with beautiful ocean views and I’m sold. My “second” family when growing up were Greek, and I fell in love with the culture so Greece is definitely on my bucket list as well. I would stay in Santorini but would travel all around to see all the different islands.

The hotel I have had my eye on is the Perivolas Hotel in Santorini. It has 4.9 stars and the pictures of this hotel are outstanding. I love the little story of how this hotel came to be on the about us page. Makes me think of a couple in love working together to turn their dreams into reality and creating something utterly beautiful – how romantic is that?!

Pick #3 Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Brazil is such a beautiful destination with so much to offer travellers. Take a walk or hike through a lush rainforest – Parque Nacional da Tijuca. Spend the day on one of it’s many beautiful beaches. Explore the city and it’s amazing food.

But when I really think of Brazil, I think of dancing the night away. Learn how to really dance samba from the experts. This is a major part of the culture and I’ve read that you can head to Pedra do Sal in the city centre and watch live spontaneous dancing, maybe even join in as well? How cool is that?!

Belmond Copacabana Palace is a luxury hotel located on the beach with stunning views.

Pick #5 Split Croatia

Croatia is a new addition to my bucket list. A close friend visited Croatia on her honeymoon and I was completely surprised how much it amazed me looking through her pictures. The old city of Split is one of the oldest in the world, therefore, is FULL of history. It was under the rule of the Roman Empire so a visit to the Diocletian palace is a must. Apparently, it’s so lavish that could actually come into the palace by boat. Being on the coast of the Mediterranean, the beaches are very popular and so is island hopping. Cobble stone streets and stone walled buildings equal perfection for wandering taking in all the sights.

After a search and review of websites, their ratings and pictures, my suggestion would be the Heritage Hotel Antique Split. It is on the higher end of any budget, but it is insane. It truly lives up to the heritage of this city with beautiful stone architecture throughout including in the rooms.
